Children now have access to books all day
21 March 2023
The rotating library donated by the Kiwanis of Waverley will provide children with ongoing access to books during their stay.
Reading plays an incredibly important role in every child’s development. 95% of all children who come to Kara FVS have witnessed some form of family violence in their short life. The resulting long term trauma can impede cognitive and
emotional development and can affect their long term outcomes. Our Child and Youth Practitioner works with the children and their mothers to stabilise their situation and get them back into healthy habits like reading. The library is located in the multipurpose room and is accessible through the day. Thank you to the Kiwanis of Waverley for this wonderful gift.
