Our new crisis accommodation site will be opening soon
22 March 2022
The new site has been built by Victorian State Government and will enable us to expand and build on our existing services. The site comprises 6 separate units of various sizes, which will accommodate singles, small and large families. Each unit will provide a separate private space with an outdoor balcony or courtyard. A central playground and outdoor areas will provide places for children to play and women to meet others in a similar circumstance. One unit offers full accessibility for those with a disability allowing us to meet the unique needs of our clients.
An onsite office will provide 24hr support and assistance. Purpose built interview and meeting rooms are secure and private spaces for new client intake and meetings. The multipurpose room gives clients to access computers, wellbeing activities and a well-stocked library for both adults and children.
We are excited to have the opportunity to expand our work in the Eastern Suburbs of Melbourne and will maintain a strong presence in the City of Whitehorse. The original Kara House will continue to offer accommodation, support and services for women and children impacted by family violence.
A great environment creates great outcomes
We are incredibly grateful to the Victorian Government, Family Safety Victoria and the Department of Families, Fairness and Housing for providing a state of the art, purpose built facility for women and children. The site will be set up to offer women and children with the best possible environment to assist them in developing a safer future.
